My inventory of wood stock for spacers is broad and the species represented varies over time, depending on what is available. I am always on the lookout for interesting examples of species suitable for turning down into reel seats. Common and traditional species used for reel seats, such as bird's-eye maple, extra select cherry, oak and extra select walnut, are readily available, but I also see more exotic woods unpredictably.
